i2iAuction Product FAQ

Q. What sort of equipment do need in order to use i2iAuction™ video in my eBay™ auctions?

A. A computer, webcam and a broadband connection are all that is required to record your i2iauction video. You may also use a conventional home video camera, though an inexpensive ($50 - $100) adaptor is required.
This topic is addressed in greater detail here.

You may now upload video files for use in your auctions. Shoot and edit your video using a conventional video camera or use a preproduced file, upload it and we'll compress it and place it in your auction for you.

Q. Does it cost more to upload and compress my i2iAuction™ video?

A. No, there is no extra charge. The compression service is part of the service that i2iAuction.com provides. You may re-compress this file multiple times, if needed, and there is no extra cost.

Q. How does i2iAuction™ work, and how does it get into my eBay™ auction?

A. Basically, the i2iAuction™ service enables you to record video directly to our servers in real- time where it is stored for later use. After the video is recorded, it is associated to your specific eBay™ auction in one of three ways:

1.SIMPLEST METHOD - As a certified eBay™ development partner, i2iAuction™ can place your recorded video directly in your auction with no html coding experience required.
You must however, have an active( or delayed) auction listing in eBay™ and log in using our placement gateway, accessible from your Video Administration page. This is a secured connection to eBay™ and it enables you to place your i2i auction video on any current, or delayed listing that you have. Upon logging in to eBay™ via SSL (128 bit encrypted Secured Sockets Layer), an eBay™ security token is issued, therby allowing i2iAuction™ to aid in administering these and future auction descriptions without needing to keep your password on file. i2iAuction™ does not capture or keep your password at any time. For security reasons this token does expire eventually and will need to be renewed when eBay™ requires it. We encourage our clients to validate their connection to eBay™ by clicking on the security lock located in the lower left hand corner of the browser window.

That being said, this simple and secure process is not required in order to use i2iAuction™ Videos in your eBay™ auction, though it is the simplest method and requires no basic knowledge of writing HTML code.

2. INTERMEDIATE: CUT AND PASTE - You are also welcome to paste in the auction-specific HTML code if you wish. This method does not require that you log in to your eBay™ Seller account through i2iAuction.com, only directly to eBay. From yourVideo Administration page, you may generate the required HTML code and paste it into your auction description directly.

3. EXPERT: SAPRO -
Power Sellers who use SAPro to administer their auctions may also include the previously referenced code within their SAPro template(s). For a more in-depth discussion of this simple process, please read the tutorial located here.

Q. Can I use this HTML code to place a video on my website or on a non-eBay auction site?

A. i2iAuction™ is a product built specifically for use on eBay™ auctions and will not function with other websites.

Q. Do you have any bulk purchase plans?

A. Absolutely - You may purchase a block of videos at a reduced price, and use them all immediately or save some for later- it's up to you, and easily managed from your Video Administration page.

Q.Does i2iAuction™ Video have audio, too?

A. Of course! i2iAuction™ Video can use the built -in microphone on your camera, or can attach to other microphones attached to your system.

Q. I have a video that I wish to apply to multiple auctions. Can I do this and are there any restrictions?

A. Absolutely, though videos, whether or not they are reused, must be purchased for every different auction listing. Additionally, prepurchased (bulk purchased) videos cannot be applied for this purpose due to present technical limitations. Future revisions of the i2iAuction™ service will address this limitation.

Q. Can I use multiple videos on my auction?

A. Absolutely you may. In fact, many sellers find that addtional video may provide important information omitted in the first video. This additional video could include a brief introduction from the seller, showing the product in action, or even just information about you, the seller. This video may include any information you wish to give to the seller, provided it conforms to the eBay™ terms and conditions and to the i2iAuction™ Terms of Service Agreement.

Q. Can I re-record my i2iAuction™ Video before I place it in the listing?

A. Absolutely, novice and expert users often wish to re-record their i2iauction video and may do so as many times as is required. You may not, however, re-record after your auction has been launched, as this is a violation of eBay's Terms of Use. Additional videos may be purchased, however, as adding to your auction description is allowed, if not encouraged.

Q. What is streaming and why is this good?

A. Streaming video is a term often misused and many services incorrectly and improperly label their progressive download video products as streaming when it is not even close. I2iAuction Video is truly streamed, which means that the video starts playing instantly and does not require any significant buffering or preloading to play. This means that, provided your viewer has a trouble-free broadband connection, they can view your auction video within seconds of requesting that the video be played. Understandably, internet traffic can occasionally impede performance, but this is not a normal occurance.

Q. What's the difference between streaming and progressive download?

A. Progressive Download means that based on the speed of your connection, that a certain amount of data(usually about 50%) must be downloaded to the viewer before the video begins playing. This download is not managed by anything other than the speed of the connection, whereas streaming sends the data a split second before it is being seen by the viewer.

Q. Can bidders with 56K dialup view this video?

A. Absolutely, however a portion of the video must be buffered (transferred to the viewer's machine and stored) before the video will begin to play. Broadband users however, can record their videos in real time and viewers can stream the video almost immediately.

Q. Are there any other charges from i2iAuction™ or eBay?

A. None at all. If you purchase a video for $1.99, there are no additional costs, unless you wish to use this video in another auction or re-list this auction. Further eBay™ does not assess a charge for this service as they would with eBay™ add-ons like BUY NOW or other premium services.

Q.Does i2iAuction™ work through a firewall?

A. Provided your firewall and network is correctly configured, there should be no issues with your video recording and reception.
